View Larger Map On the southern tip of Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula, Sharm El-Sheikh is a fantastic sun, sea and sand destination. Crystal clear warm waters, magnificent coral reefs and a vast array of tropical fish make the Red Sea a formidable snorkelling and diving hot spot, and on the water windsurfing, sailing, yacht charters and waterskiing are popular. Luxury hotels have all the facilities you could need to keep kids entertained and in the evening you’ll find a buzzing night scene, with excellent restaurants and bars. Out and About Sharm El-Sheikh is home to family friendly beaches and exceptional dive sites. Here are a few of our favourite adventures. • The waters off Sharm El-Sheikh are part of the Ras Mohamed National Park, one of the best coral reef ecosystems in the world. Take a snorkel or dive trip to explore this spectacular underwater world. • Take a day trip to the 16th Century St Catherine's Monastery at the foot of Mount Sinai, reportedly the location where God appeared to Moses in the burning bush. Or climb Mount Sinai at sunrise for a spectacular view over the mystical desert landscape. • Experience a traditional Bedouin dinner out in the desert or try a sunset camel trek and see the magical shifting colours of the sand as the sun sets and the stars come out. Food and Drink Sharm El-Sheikh and neighbouring Na’ama Bay play host to a multitude of restaurants and bars, with French and Italian bistros competing with Japanese, Thai and many other delicious types of food. Egyptian cuisine is a treat for vegetarians, heavily featuring vegetable dishes, although you’ll also be treated to wonderful seafood. Try for yourself at Abu El Sid in Na’ama Bay, offering traditional fare in a charming atmosphere, and the family run Safsafa in the heart of the old market is a favourite of ours.
