Contrasts Of Oman Tour

Oman’s interior deserves to be explored and this short, yet comprehensive four wheel drive adventure is the perfect addition to lazy days spent on the glorious beaches of this wonderful country. If you would like to go at a more leisurely pace, or tailor inclusions to suit your interests, please ask us for our recommendations.

Day 1 This morning you’ll leave Muscat, stopping in the pretty village of Birkat Al Mauz situated in the foothills of the Jebel Akhdar (Green Mountains). After a walk through its lush date plantations, depart for Jabrin, Oman’s finest castle built in the late 17th Century. Renowned for its beautiful frescos, Jabrin was originally a palace for the Immam and is a fantastic example of authentic Omani craftsmanship. Next visit Misfah, a pretty mountain village with stone dwellings and then head to Wadi Nakher located in the depths of Oman’s deepest canyon. End the day with a drive to Jebel Shams, the highest peak in the Jebel Akhdar mountains, with spectacular views. Overnight at The View

Day 2 This morning visit Nizwa, the capital of the interior and the birthplace of Islam in the Sultanate of Oman, stopping at Nizwa Souk which is renowned for its intricately hand-carved Khanjars (daggers) and ornamental silver jewellery. Proceed to Wadi Bani Khalid with a visit to Sinaw Souk and Munzif village in Ibra en-route. Wadi Bani Khalid is home to a number of small, pretty villages embedded in the mountains and the wadi itself is a stunning clear, deep blue. Continue to Wahiba Sands, home to a traditional Bedouin tribe who are known for their hospitality and knowledge of the sands. As well as engaging with the tribe, the ever-changing patterns of the dunes offer fantastic photo opportunities.
Overnight at Desert Nights Camp

Day 3 This morning experience the thrills of dune driving then depart for Sur. Famous for its dhow building yard, in the 18th & 19th Centuries the port town of Sur was an important ship building and trading centre. Drive on to Fins Beach for a refreshing swim before reaching Bimah Sinkhole, a spectacular limestone crater filled with blue, green water. Then, whilst driving along the coast, on clear sunny days it’s possible to see sharks in the deep blue water or a Gazelle sprint across the landscape. Before arriving back into Muscat enjoy a final stop at Wadi Arbayeen, with its refreshing deep pools set amongst verdant date palms.

Includes daily breakfast, dinner at The View and Desert Nights Camp, private air-conditioned transportation in a luxury 4 wheel drive vehicle, an English speaking chauffeur guide and entrance fees to all attractions visited.
