Abu Dhabi has become one of the world’s leading destinations for just about anything and everything you could want to do on a holiday. Set on an island bathed in glorious sunshine and surrounded by the beautifully clear, warm waters of the Persian Gulf, the lure of the well-maintained beaches and promise of fun on or under the water is naturally irresistible. Also renowned as a shopping paradise and offering an incredible range of attractions and activities to suit all ages, from its tranquil beaches and lush oases, to vibrant cafés, restaurants, shopping malls and bustling souks, here you can take life as slow or as fast as you like.

See some of the world’s leading sports events including the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship and Formula One Grand Prix, enjoy unique art, music and cultural festivals, or get out into the desert for a thrilling dune-bashing experience; however you choose to spend your time here Abu Dhabi is sure to surprise and delight.

Out and About
We have selected an exciting range of experiences which highlight the history, traditions and modern aspects of Abu Dhabi.

• Explore Qasr al-Hosn Palace or ‘White Fort’, the oldest stone building in Abu Dhabi, giving a fascinating glimpse of the life of the ruling family until 1966.

• The breathtaking Sheikh Zayed Mosque is a modern phenomena, opened in 2007. A fusion of Arab, Mughal and Moorish architecture, it is the eighth largest mosque in the world. Open to the public Saturday - Thursday mornings before noon, it is well worth taking the tour at 10am.

• Opening in October 2010, the world’s first Ferrari Theme Park will be an intense multi-sensory experience featuring the world’s fastest roller coast which will emulate the feeling of being in a Ferrari F1 car. A must visit for the sheer wow factor.

• Arabian horses are famed for their intelligence and stamina. View these fascinating beasts at the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club, where regular race days and the more famous National Day Cup and Championship Cup are held.

• Camel racing has long been a tradition in Bedouin culture and Al Wathba Racetrack, close to Abu Dhabi, holds weekly races between October - March with major race days on public holidays. Fantastic fun and an experience never forgotten.

Food and Drink
Reflecting every taste and culture under the sun, in Abu Dhabi you can enjoy a veritable feast of the finest cuisines from around the world. The restaurants in our featured resorts are all superb and will treat you to the finest culinary experiences and you’ll find the chefs take pride in using only the best local and imported ingredients, including wonderfully fresh seafood. We particularly
recommend you sample the Michelin-starred Hakkasan at Emirates Palace for exquisite Chinese, Finz at Beach Rotana Hotel for mouthwatering seafood and Chamas for something different in
an elegant setting.

Dining al fresco is popular and one of the great joys of the city is the plethora of small street cafés, where you can discover simple but totally delicious fare. Do treat yourself to Al Harees, a mouthwatering dish prepared from meat and wheat that takes hours to prepare and is worth every second. Or indulge in desserts like Al Khabeesah, a divine mixture of flour, rose water, sugar, ghee and cardamom.
