View Larger Map Out and About From the city to the desert, here are a few suggestions for you to experience all that Dubai has to offer. • If nothing else we’d encourage you to come to Dubai just to shop, with everything available from gold to electronics to spices and a multitude of malls, the largest being the impressive Dubai Mall with over 1,200 shops. • Spend the evening at a Bedouin camp in the dunes, with traditional belly dancing and an enticing Arabic feast. • Adventure into the desert for a thrilling four wheel drive through the dunes and wadis, try sand skiing the latest desert sport, or cheer at the boisterous camel races, a spectacle not to be missed. • Dubai city and the surrounding desert offer photographic opportunities galore, from the traditional mud-walled houses of the Bastakiya quarter and the maze of alleyways in the colourful souks, to sumptuous palaces and dusty villages framed by dramatic sunsets. • Golf courses continue to pop up all over the desert, with championship standard courses at Emirates Golf Club, Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club and Dubai Golf and Racing Club, to name just a few. Food and Drink Dubai is a city that offers an impressive range of cuisine from local and ethnic dishes to international cuisine from around the world. Standards are high and the choice is diverse, especially in the top class restaurants offered by the city’s hotels. We recommend the modern seafood of Al Mahara at Burj Al Arab and Pier Chic at Madinat Jumeirah - Al Qasr. For Japanese fusion, Nobu at Atlantis, The Palm Jumeirah deserves special mention and the Moroccan dishes in Tagine at One&Only Royal Mirage are mouthwatering. Outside the hotels, small eating places are to be found in all parts of the city including Deira, Bur Dubai, Satwa, Jumeirah and Dubai Marina and we especially like Nineteen at Montgomerie Golf Club, and Vintage Wine Bar and Restaurant in the Wafi Pyramids.
