From the lush green highlands to the glorious coastline and bustling cities, the country offers year-round sunshine and a huge variety of landscapes. Towering skyscrapers look down upon wooden houses built on stilts, while chic hideaway hotels overlook ancient reefs. And with such diversity comes a real taste of adventure, like chancing upon orangutans or an ancient tribe in unspoiled jungles. Go swimming with turtles, try white water rafting or discover hidden temples, whatever flavour your holiday takes, you’ll be greeted by the warmest smiles and wonderful hospitality.
The capital, Kuala Lumpur, successfully blends the old with the new, from majestic colonial buildings to Chinese temples and royal palaces to traditional street markets, giving the otherwise very modern city centre a unique atmosphere. Famous for its bargain shopping, you’ll find everything here from designer clothes to electrical goods and exquisite local handicrafts. At night the city exudes fun, life and entertainment, with a myriad of restaurants, bars and clubs.
Take life a little slower on Langkawi, a cluster of paradise islands where award-winning resorts are set on tranquil palm-fringed beaches. Some of the best snorkelling, diving and golf are available here. It’s also a duty free shopping paradise. Or experience the complete serenity and magical settings of Pangkor Laut and Pahang, which will touch your very soul. And if you would like to visit Penang, the Pearl of the Orient, just let us know and we’ll arrange something special for you.
Out & About
Whether you stay in the city, or head to the beach there is a wide variety of activities on offer. Here are a few suggestions.
- Get a birds eye view of Kuala Lumpur from the sky bridge of the world’s tallest twin structures, the 88-storey Petronas Twin Towers.
- Pulau Payar Marine Park a 1 hour boat ride south-east of Langkawi makes a great day trip. The four islands of the park are uninhabited and surrounded by coral reefs with great visibility, making the waters ideal for diving, snorkelling and swimming. And if you are a land lover, you can still discover the magical depths with the Underwater Observation Chamber, a platform 10 feet below the sea with a dining area and sundeck on the surface.
- Experience the varied landscape and wildlife of Langkawi at Kilim Nature Park. This area encompasses protected mangrove forests, secluded beaches and stunning blue lagoons, brown eagles, macaques, tree crabs and monitor lizards.
- For retail therapy, the best time of the year to visit is during the Malaysia Mega Sale Carnival, around August – September when the entire country offers great discounts.
