What We Think

For a lavish experience The Burj Al Arab has to be the most opulent and spectacular hotel in Dubai. Having seen the hotel on a recent visit , I would say it was very Las Vegas , glitz and glam , Just fabulous.

Dubai

The Pearl of the Arabian Gulf
Few other places in the world can promise such excitement and diversity as Dubai. There’s so much to see, do and experience, that a sense of expectation is never dimmed, no matter how often you holiday here.

Known as ‘The Pearl of the Arabian Gulf’, there’s a great deal to treasure about Dubai.

Here you can stay in some of the world’s most luxurious hotels, yet still dine in a Bedouin tent in the desert. You can tread respectfully across pristine greens on PGA championship golf courses, or race across the rolling desert dunes in a four wheel drive vehicle. You can shop in the atmospheric gold souks and old spice markets, or search out designer goods in the huge modern malls. This is the wonderful world of contrasts that makes Dubai such a magical place for a holiday.

Many of the world’s greatest sporting events are held in Dubai, including the world’s richest horse race and even the Rugby Sevens. The warm Gulf waters and magnificent beaches are perfect for every conceivable watersport, and Dubai continues to add to its superb attractions with the amazing Aquaventure water park at Atlantis, The Palm Jumeirah and Dubailand, the ultimate theme park set to rival Disneyland, in development.

Many of Dubai’s hotels are an adventure in themselves and offer outstanding luxury, facilities, service and a myriad of restaurants with cuisine from right around the world. If nothing else we’d encourage you to come here just to shop. Of course Dubai is also a thriving business centre and its development continues at record speed. All this activity is working towards Dubai’s ultimate goal of becoming one of the world’s truly great holiday destinations; we think it already is.

Out & About
From the city to the desert, here are a few suggestions for you to experience all that Dubai has to offer.

- Dubai is a shoppers paradise, with everything from gold to electronics to spices and a multitude of malls, the largest being Dubai Mall.

- Spend the evening at a Bedouin camp in the dunes, with traditional belly dancing and an enticing Arabic feast.

- Adventure into the desert for a thrilling four wheel drive through the dunes and wadis, try sand skiing, the latest desert sport, or cheer at the boisterous camel races, a spectacle not to be missed.

- Dubai city and the surrounding desert offer photographic opportunities galore, with the traditional mud-walled houses of the Bastakiya quarter and the maze of alleyways in the colourful souks and further afield, sumptuous palaces and dusty villages framed by dramatic sunsets.

- Golf courses continue to pop up all over the desert, with championship standard grass courses at Emirates Golf Club, Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club and Dubai Golf and Racing Club, to name a few.

Food & Drink
Dubai is a city that offers an impressive range of cuisine, from local and ethnic dishes to international cuisine from around the world. Standards are high and the choice is diverse, especially in the top class restaurants offered by the city’s hotels. We recommend the modern seafood of Al Mahara at Burj Al Arab and Pier Chic at Madinat Jumeirah - Al Qasr.

For Japanese fusion, Nobu at Atlantis, The Palm Jumeirah, deserves special mention and the Moroccan dishes in Tagine at One&Only Royal Mirage are mouthwatering. Outside the hotels, small eating places are to be found in all parts of the city including Deira, Bur Dubai, Satwa, Jumeirah and Dubai Marina and we especially like Nineteen at Montgomerie Golf Club, and Vintage Wine Bar and Restaurant in the Wafi Pyramids.
