Central America is a continent of vast swathes of tropical jungle, sharp volcanic peaks, idyllic sandy beaches and colourful, vibrant cities. There’s something for everyone here, from adventurous types longing to delve into the rainforest and give white water rafting, zip lining and canoeing a go; to those looking for some sun, sea and relaxation on the shores of a sun-soaked beach. And there’s plenty of history and culture to soak up here too – Mayan ruins carry the echoes of an ancient civilisation, salsa music drifts out of lively local bars, and grand colonial plazas stand in the shadows of modern glass skyscrapers. Our favourite destination, Costa Rica, really does offer everything. One of Central America’s most thrilling places to holiday, here, you can revel in luxury whilst marvelling at the lushness of the rainforest, the turquoise waters of the ocean and the mist-strewn cloud forests. The call of tropical birds, the chatter of monkeys and the stillness of sloths will amaze and delight, whilst a colourful bounty of flora erupts from all around. Here, eco-tourism is king and you’ll find lodges only accessible by boat, hotels perched on the edge of the jungle, and resorts brimming with opportunities to get up close and personal with wildlife.

As well as spotting the local wildlife, Costa Rica offers the opportunity to get involved in adventures ranging from fast-paced white-water rafting to more sedate boat trips, adrenaline-pumping zip lining to informative guided nature walks.
