While Kruger National Park has a world-famous name, the majority of South Africa’s luxury lodges are located in the adjacent Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve. Sabi Sands and Kruger have no fences between them so animals wander freely around this huge ecosystem, which enjoys some of the highest densities of big game in Africa. While we would never guarantee that you’ll see all the big five (which comprises buffalo, lion, leopard, elephant and rhino) you have excellent chances of seeing them all in Sabi Sands over a three or four-night stay. Sabi Sands is just a short flight from Johannesburg and accessed via private airstrips (belonging to some lodges) or Hoedspruit in the west and Nelspruit in the south. As soon as you arrive you will be met and transferred to your lodge, viewing game en-route. The lodges here vary in style from luxury tented camps to luxury lodges with private plunge pools and private guiding but all are of a high standard with excellent service and guiding, the latter being integral to a really good safari experience. In fact you’ll be amazed by the standard of food and service you will receive out in the ‘wilds’.
