It’s hard to know where to start in describing holidays to South Africa as it really does offer such a diverse range of experiences whether you are travelling as a family, on honeymoon, alone or with a group of friends. It’s a great place to experience your first safari, offering a variety of game reserves including the incredibly game-rich Sabi Sands, adjacent to world-famous Kruger National Park. For those travelling with young children or simply wishing to avoid malarial areas, Madikwe Private Game Reserve and Kwandwe Private Game Reserve offer fantastic big five safaris. The beauty of South Africa is that there is so much more to do beyond the superb safari experience. Cape Town is an obvious draw with its stunning beaches and iconic Table Mountain and surrounding this vibrant city are the beautiful winelands. Striking out from the Western Cape, it is very easy to self-drive (or be driven) along the Garden Route to Hermanus, a perfect spot for whale-watching from July to November, and onward to Plettenberg Bay, where outdoor activities and great restaurants abound. Finally, visitors should consider fascinating and historic KwaZulu Natal. This area covers South Africa’s south east and is home to the battlefields of the Anglo-Zulu and Anglo-Boer Wars, a stunning coastline stretching from Durban all the way up to the Mozambique border, malaria-free games reserves, the Drakensburg Mountains and opportunities for diving around Rocktail Bay. There really is so much to do and see in this wonderful country and we are sure that one visit simply won’t be enough.
