Known as the Island of Eternal Spring, Tenerife enjoys year-round balmy temperatures with even the winter months often offering sunshine and up to 20 degrees. Being also only a direct four-hour flight from the UK makes it the perfect destination for a healthy dose of vitamin D during those cooler times of year. The island boasts beautiful scenery, with wild and rugged mountains including Spain’s highest point, Pico Teide, as well as a myriad of lovely hidden coves and long beaches, many of which are fantastic surf spots. Being so diverse inland makes for ideal hiking and mountain biking escapades, if you’re feeling active! The peaceful north of the island feels a million miles away from the busy resorts of the south coast and instead here you will find an untouched landscape of lush farmland and a rocky coastline dotted with charming fishing villages. Don’t let this slower pace of life fool you though as the islanders certainly know how to throw a great party; after all, the island’s capital of Santa Cruz plays host to the world’s second biggest carnival in February each year.
