The annual festival calendar for Jamaica is once again filled with some amazing events for 2018, they’re not to be missed – we’ve hand-picked some of our favourites. The real beauty of a Jamaican festival is the coming together of like-minded people in one place, at one time, listening, tasting, sharing a love of something and sinking into that laid-back Caribbean vibe.

Bob Marley Birthday Bash

This annual event gives you a taste of authentic Jamaican culture through music, food and creative art expression. The Bob Marley Birthday Bash in Negril, Jamaica features popular international reggae artistes performing live in honour of one of the island’s music legends.

Carnival in Jamaica

Carnival in Jamaica kicks off in January and ends in April attracting local people as well as visitors. Some of the highlights of the season include Beach Jouvert, Reveller’s Fete and Bacchanal Jouvert & Road March. This year sees the return of mass bands including Bacchanal Jamaica, Jamaica Carnival, Xaymaca International, Exodus and the Ocho Rios Carnival. The event is indeed a unique expression of the island spirit and showcases to the world a carnival unique to Jamaica.

International Reggae Day

July 1, is recognised as International Reggae Day. This will be 24 hours of celebration for reggae culture and its influence on Jamaican music. Hosted in the capital, Kingston, this event will celebrate the best of Jamaican creativity and its global reach using the power of music, media and communication technology to unite nations.

Jamaica Food & Drink Festival

The Food and Drink Festival is a celebration of great spirits, fine foods, live entertainment, culinary mastery and more in Kingston, Jamaica – the culinary hub of the Caribbean. It is the celebration of the great spirits, fine foods, live inclusive gastronomic events that showcase the best Jamaica has to offer. It’s five days of diverse, all inclusive gastronomic exploits – your biggest decision will be, “How do I pick which event to attend?”

Reggae Sumfest

Reggae Sumfest is Jamaica’s premier festival dedicated to showcasing the island’s indigenous reggae music while also promoting Jamaica as a prime summer destination. Reggae Sumfest attracts visitors from all across the globe. In 2017, the new festival promoters celebrated the 25th annual staging of this event and certainly showcased one of the biggest reggae festivals ever staged in Jamaica!
