Nature-lovers will want to discover the Gardens of Antigua. Hosted by Joy Farrell, an award winning gardener, columnist and host of ABS’ upcoming Gardens of Antigua, guests of the garden tour receive door-to- door service. The first garden at Fitches Creek is on the north east coast of Antigua in the Parish of St. George. This garden is all about colour ; your senses are bombarded with an explosion of colour from the minute you enter. The garden has a large collection of copper water ponds and water lilies. The second garden on the tour is at Ffryes Estate. This tropical garden has been created on an incline. It sits atop a hillside and gives spectacular views of the Caribbean coastline and the Sleeping Indian Mountains. On a clear day, you can see Montserrat and Nevis. The garden has an incredible selection of Bromeliads, Crown of Thorns and Bougainvillea and if there is something ripe in the garden, visitors gets to sample it. The final garden on the tour is Rosemacs’ Herb Garden at Johnson’s Point in St Mary’s Parish on the south west coast of the island. For generations, Antigua, have believed in their herb medicines and bush tea. Rose Simon, the owner, will take over the tour and talk about the plants and their various medicinal purposes, with a chance to sample bush tea.
