St Vincent & The Grenadines are a sprinkling of paradise islands in the azure Caribbean Sea; their sugar white sands wildly tempting for a luxury beach escape amidst natural beauty. Whilst these glistening shores offer the perfect setting for a barefoot beach holiday, thick rainforests and active volcanoes such as Soufrière Volcano add real action and adventure to your island experience.

You may not have expected to find a 4,000 ft high active volcano on St Vincent, but the climb to the top is an amazing challenge, and well worth the effort as the views and sense of satisfaction when you reach the summit are spectacular. You’ll journey on foot for three miles through pristine rainforest, bamboo groves and cloud forest before you reach the volcanic rock at the edge of the vast mile-wide crater. We couldn’t recommend more highly a hike on Soufrière Volcano to experience the natural beauty of St Vincent up close – the lush green scenery is breathtaking.

Exploring Soufrière Volcano further, we’d suggest a visit to Dark View Falls at the southern foot of the volcano. Two beautiful waterfalls cascade over lava rocks in a mystical bamboo forest, and you can follows hiking trails all around here. A steeper trail climbs to the higher falls where you can take a refreshing dip in a large natural water pool – the perfect way to cool down after an adventure in the forest.
