For true hidden luxury and a complete retreat from modern city life you must visit Emirates Al Maha. Located in the middle of the Al Maha conservation reserve this is a stunning property. Be pampered in their luxurious spa and watch the Oryx and Antelope wander across the desert whilst bathing in your own private pool; see the sunset over the sand dunes whilst sipping a chilled glass of champagne. This resort doesn't accept children under 12 years of age and I definitely recommend it for honeymooners or those seeking peace and quiet in a beautiful, remote location.

Al Maha Desert Resort & Spa

Relax in the romantic setting of a traditional Bedouin encampment with all the service and style of a boutique hotel.

Situated in a conservation area overlooking the spectacular desert dunes, this superb resort offers true hidden luxury.

Location Created around an oasis set amidst the dramatic desert landscape, the resort is still only a 45 minute drive from the airport.

Facilities You stay on a full board basis, but there’s plenty of choice and dining offers a delicious blend of Arabic and international cuisine. If you prefer, this can also be served in your own suite. Expect your days to be filled with desert adventure. We recommend the camel trekking and horse riding across the desert, and the four wheel drive dune safari’s and wildlife watching are also great fun. But this wouldn’t be the full desert experience without falconry and out here in the wild it is really something special. After a day in the desert, you can look forward to all the soothing pleasures of the Timeless Spa with its traditional treatments, oasis style pool, sauna, steam room, indoor Jacuzzi and traditional Arabic lounge. A camp it may be, but ‘roughing it’ it certainly isn’t.

Accommodation

It’s the best of both worlds, as you can enjoy the Bedouin camp atmosphere together with exceptional luxury. Each of the 42 tent-covered suites has its own wooden terrace, infinity pool, king size bath, Bvlgari amenities and multimedia equipment. Natural handicrafts and furnishings and bountiful cushions help complete the mood, as does the attentive Arabian hospitality.

7 nights from £1,880 per person in low season and £3,836 in high season, based on 2 adults sharing a Bedouin Suite, on Full Board, including return scheduled flights, private transfers and use of a private lounge at Gatwick or Heathrow.
