What We Think

I love Denis Island, the resort is barefoot bliss, walking on the beach yours are the only footprints in the sand, your home is a rustic cottage with a large sea facing verandah, perfect for an in room spa treatment. The food is fabulous with wonderful seafood; I highly recommend the weekly Creole buffet. Denis Island is the most relaxing place I have ever stayed and I cannot wait to return.

Denis Island

The fact that pirates of old used this island as a secret hideaway will tell you that it is a very private and tranquil retreat.

The island is totally unspoilt, covered in coconut palms and encircled by shallow lagoons that no doubt could tell a tale or two. But the real treasure here is the beautiful resort itself. Simplicity, comfort, pleasure and relaxation co-exist in perfect harmony on this private island sanctuary.

Location Reached by a 30 minute flight from Mahé airport.

Facilities The island’s main lodge houses the airy restaurant and bar areas, with a reputation for serving some of the finest cuisine in the Seychelles. The Creole buffet is a must. On themed evenings sarongs or long trousers must be worn – the choice is yours! Denis Island is famous for its fishing and the boats will also get you close to manta rays, dolphins and turtles. There’s a PADI dive centre and snorkelling, sailing, windsurfing and canoeing are all offered. There is a swimming pool, island boutique, tennis and billiards. You can also take guided nature walks along the island’s meandering pathways, with the chance to see rare birds, and the old lighthouse.

Special Information Compulsory Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve dinner supplements applicable.

Accommodation

The island boasts 25 cottages, all offering double vanity sinks, air-conditioning, ceiling fans, private outside courtyard, al fresco shower, indoor shower, tea/coffee making facilities, mini bar and hairdryer. Cottages have their own sea facing verandah and are dotted around the island between coconut palms and casuarina trees, to ensure total privacy. Each of the 3 Villa Belle Etoile additionally offers a wooden terrace with outdoor sala and a massage pavilion in the courtyard. A further 4 of these are planned later in 2009. We recommend the extra space of Villa Prince Noir for families and honeymooners will love the Executive Villa.
