Belmond La Residencia is without doubt one of Mallorca’s finest hotels, nestled below the Sierra Tramuntana mountains on the outskirts of the hilltop village of Deia on Mallorca’s northwest coast.
The heart of the property is two restored manor houses dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries, from which the resort spreads out across the hillside on varying levels through beautiful gardens and orchards filled with olive, lemon and orange trees. Even the more recently built parts of the property are still in keeping with the traditional architecture and style, using that lovely local Mallorcan stone. The hotel’s 67 rooms and suites have all been individually designed and furnished with a combination of natural materials and traditional furniture and perfectly compliment the architecture of the old manor house.
Belmond La Residencia offers some of the best gastronomic experiences on the island paired with fine views from al fresco terraces; El Olivo restaurant serves up exquisite local and Mediterranean dishes accompanied by an award-winning wine list while the informal Café Miro offers a delicious selection of Mediterranean tapas and lighter cuisine throughout the day.
Take a dip in one of the two outdoor swimming pools, gazing out towards the artist and writers’ haven of Deia and the surrounding mountains. Not forgetting the beautiful spa and the adjacent indoor swimming pool, sauna and Jacuzzi. For the more active, there are two tennis courts at the property and guided walks are offered through beautiful landscaped grounds.
Being walking distance from Deia, the location is ideal for exploring some of what the town has to offer and for dinner in the evening if you feel like venturing out. They also have mopeds for rent if you fancy exploring the beautiful Mallorcan countryside with a delicious picnic that can be carefully prepared for you by the hotel.
Although not right on the coast, Belmond la Residencia is but a short drive from Port Soller and don’t forget to take advantage of a complimentary boat trip along Mallorca’s rugged coastline, an experience reserved exclusively for guests of the hotel during their stay.
