Here at The Private Travel Company we have curated a short list of our top summer destinations for 2016. Places we think are advantageous to go to during the summer months, in order to get the best out of the destinations.
Bali, an island in Indonesia is a wonderful summer destination choice, with such a vast range of geographical landscapes you will not be confined to just beaches, or terraced rice fields. There is a beautiful blend of many variations, creating a colourful, cultural landscape.
Our two favourite locations are, Ubud and Manggis; Ubud due to it being an artistic hub of crafts, art, and dance. It also has a lovely array of local restaurants which showcase the best of local Balinese cuisine.
Ubud is renowned for its shopping, which is appropriate as it is such a craft hub; the streets are adorned with shops all selling beautifully hand crafted wares. There is so much to see in Ubud, from the sacred monkey forest to the beautiful botanical gardens.
Manggis on the East Coast of Bali is home to Amankila, a stunning resort. It has a three tiered pool which cascades down the hillside, and boasts beautiful views out to the ocean. The design of this hotel is faultless, with every detail being taken into account, nestled into the surrounding nature; it is a gem clutching the side of the coast.
The summer months are a great time to visit Bali due to the favourable weather at this time of year. Another reason to head to Bali in the summer would be to go to Seminyak, an entertaining and vibrant area of Bali, brimming with shops and bars. Our particular favourite is Potato Head beach club, it is home to three restaurants, two bars and an infinity pool, it is also host to a variety of exhibitions, installations and parties.
Greece in the summer is idyllic, and closer in proximity than many further afield destinations. Each island has its own individual charm; cobbled winding streets, snaking round the white washed buildings create a picturesque surrounding.
Our favourite islands are Santorini and Mykonos both very different in personality. Santorini is remarkable; it is essentially the remains of a volcanic eruption. With many of the buildings clutching the side of the sheer face leading down to the ocean; Santorini boasts stunning views into the azure ocean. It is an extremely romantic island, with an enchanting infamous sunset.
Mykonos is far from a sleepy island, it is more see and be seen with a lively sophisticated nightlife scene. Boasting a variety of beach clubs, it a popular destination for socialites.
Although, Mykonos is far from a one trick pony, it has so much more than just the nightlife as an attraction. It has a large selection of beaches and restaurants, which house charming culinary delights. There are many islands in Greece which are all completely different in personality, and perfect for a summer escape. Please contact us and we will find the ideal area for you.
The summer months are a great time to travel to Anguilla, it is a small but stunning island tucked away in the Northern tip of the Leeward Islands.
This island is infamous for its beaches which are constantly crowned the best in the world, year after year. The island’s coast is dotted with local beach bars, which are the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy a rum punch, our favourite is Elvis’ Beach Bar, which is located on Sandy Ground, it is a unique bar, set within an old boat, the best place to sample a local rum punch!
There is an array of beautiful hotels on the island, one of our favourites being Malliouhana, which has just recently reopened. It is positioned superiorly on a rock has stunning views across Meads Bay. The interiors are far from ordinary, beautiful colour palettes adorn all the surfaces.
The summer is a lovely time to visit this enchanting island, due to the weather, among many other aspects. There are a variety of activities and festivals which happen during the summer months. For example the Anguilla Literature Festival in May and the Anguilla boat race which takes place in the months of June, July and August. It is an exciting time to be on the island, and for us it is not to be missed!
