For those looking for an authentic cultural experience, Grenada is the perfect place to witness an island where the locals take great pride in celebrating their homeland’s unique traditions. The variety of festivals year round is amazing and we have selected a few of our favourites to give you a taste of what’s in store on your visit.

The Grenada Spicemas Festival

The island’s premier cultural event is packed with a variety of shows and displays such as a Queen Pageant show, Soca displays, calypso and a carnival. There’s also a range of children’s events so it’s a great time to take the little ones on a unique family holiday experience. The carnival marathon begins with the Dimarche Gras Show, and then the rest of the exciting events unfold. Don’t miss the colourful national carnival Queen Pageant show, where young women compete for the title of ‘Carnival Queen’; there is a blend of beauty pageant and cultural performances, and we particularly love seeing the exquisite and detailed costumes. This event is a lively and fun display of Caribbean culture and a really exciting activity to attend.

Grenada Chocolate Festival

Make your trip an indulgent one and join in the chocolate celebrations at the annual Grenada Chocolate Festival, entirely focused on the pure, delicious Grenadian organic chocolate that the island is famed for. You will learn about the old fashioned and ethical way to grow organic cocoa, and watch Grenadian artisans hand make their delicious produce, teaching you about the creative process behind tree to bar chocolate. Not only is this festival a treat for the taste buds, but you can get involved in everything from cooking classes to chocolate yoga meditation, and you can even treat yourself to a chocolate massage. Pure Grenada Music Festival

Grenada is a musical nation rich with talent, and the aim of Pure Grenada Music Festival is to showcase home grown talents along with a mix of international stars. The festival highlights the diverse beauty of the island with venues in numerous breathtaking sites across the country, including a main stage in Port Louis, a floating stage in the waters of famous St. George’s harbour, and there’s even a stage on the incredible private island of Calivigny on the south coast. The event is designed for all music lovers and all ages, where you can groove away to soulful sounds whilst enjoying the array of different activities going on, such as kids face painting, foodie stalls and much more. We can think of no better experience to get a real feel for the soul of the island and its people.
