For those looking for an authentic cultural experience, Grenada is the perfect place to witness an island where the locals take great pride in celebrating their homeland’s unique traditions. The variety of festivals year round is amazing and we have selected a few of our favourites to give you a taste of what’s in store on your visit.
The island’s premier cultural event is packed with a variety of shows and displays such as a Queen Pageant show, Soca displays, calypso and a carnival. There’s also a range of children’s events so it’s a great time to take the little ones on a unique family holiday experience. The carnival marathon begins with the Dimarche Gras Show, and then the rest of the exciting events unfold. Don’t miss the colourful national carnival Queen Pageant show, where young women compete for the title of ‘Carnival Queen’; there is a blend of beauty pageant and cultural performances, and we particularly love seeing the exquisite and detailed costumes. This event is a lively and fun display of Caribbean culture and a really exciting activity to attend.
