A Journey through Jamaica

With so many fabulous places to visit in Jamaica, from star-studded resorts to blissful seafront escapes, it can be hard to know where to start. This itinerary takes you from the iconic Round Hill, on an adventure through Jamaica’s pulsing heart, concluding with a stay at the stylish haven of GoldenEye.

Day 1

Your journey begins with a flight out to Jamaica where you’ll be transferred to the iconic Round Hill. This hotel boasts interiors designed by fashion-icon Ralph Lauren, and has a storied past – Jacqueline and JFK spent their honeymoon here, and Rodgers and Hammerstein wrote the Sound of Music within this dreamy setting.

Tonight, you’ll dine at The Restaurant at Round Hill where you’ll enjoy dining on the finest and freshest Jamaican ingredients.

Day 2

This morning, find out where some of the fresh ingredients used in last night’s dinner and today’s delicious breakfast came from, with a tour of the resort’s organic garden.

The rest of the day is yours – we’d recommend spending time at Round Hill’s fabulous spa which features seven treatment rooms and outdoor treatment areas next to the ocean or in the tropical gardens. Or melt your stress away by taking an oceanfront yoga class in the open-air pavilion.

Day 3

Today, you’ll visit the Chukka Good Hope Estate. Set over 2,000 acres, the estate was once a working village and sugar plantation, yet it’s now home to an abundance of activities, cultural experiences and lush pockets of primary jungle. You’ll visit the Great House which dates back to 1755 and remains much the same as it has since Colonel Thomas Williams built it for his wife, Elizabeth. Then it’s into the jungle for an exhilarating Zipline Adventure Tour before lunch.

Day 4

After breakfast, you’ll set off for a visit to Half Moon, a resort set along the beachfront in 400 acres of nature reserve, featuring its own championship golf course, equestrian centre and world-class spa.

While here, you’ll get to experience Half Moon’s thrilling Horseback Surf ‘n’ Turf ride where, not only will you ride your horse along the beach, it will also take you right into the sea for a swim!

Following this, you’ll depart for a tour of Rose Hall Great House, where expert guides will share the story of this 18th-century home of the European bourgeoisie. Learn about the infamous White Witch of Rosehall, Annee Palmer, and explore the scenic tropical gardens.

Return to Round Hill for a delicious dinner at The Grill restaurant. Featuring the only indoor wood-fired grill on the island, cuisine here is infused with a delicious, smoky richness, and the open kitchen allows you to watch on as the chefs prepare your meal.

Day 5

This morning, it’s time to depart Round Hill and head to the timeless Jamaica Inn, a resort surrounded by swathes of white sand lapped at by turquoise ocean, and beautifully-manicured gardens.

Accommodations here don’t get any more luxurious than the expansive White Suite, where Winston Churchill himself stayed in the 50s. Set on its own private peninsula, it features a large bedroom, sitting area, oceanfront sundeck and private grounds.

Day 6

Choose to enjoy your delicious breakfast spread on your private sundeck or overlooking the bay on the restaurant terrace, then spend the day relaxing at the Inn. Sunbathe on the secluded beach, treat yourself to some pampering at the blissful Ocean Spa, play a few rounds on the tennis court, or take a kayak out on the ocean.

Day 7

Today is at your leisure and is the perfect opportunity to go sightseeing – visit the spectacular Dunn’s River Falls, or shop to your heart’s content before savouring an Oceanside lunch at Ocho Rios.

Day 8

Now it’s time to head to the famous GoldenEye resort. Ian Fleming penned the James Bond novels here, and you’ll pick up on the creative vibe straight away. The colourful new Beach Huts are raised up high on stilts to catch the sea breeze; the One Bedroom Beach Hut with Open-Air Dune Room is split over two levels, with a bedroom on the upper floor and a dining area furnished with a wet bar, outdoor rain shower and claw foot bathtub on the lower level.

Day 9

There are two beaches at GoldenEye and they’re yours to explore. Take your pick of spots to sunbathe on Low Cay’s 500 feet of sand, or head over to the more rustic Button Beach, complete with its own bar shack. Discover the local marine life by grabbing some fins and a snorkel and heading over to Snorkeler’s Cove, or stay dry and view the colourful kaleidoscope from above on a glass bottom boat ride.

Have a leisurely lunch at the seafront Bizot Bar, then wander over to the spa. Set on in a cottage on the edge of the lagoon, it utilises the healing powers of roots, leaves and herbs grown at the resort’s own farm, Pantrepant.

This stunning property boasts some of the best views in the Caribbean and its legacy covers centuries. The illustrious property has hosted everyone from movie stars to the Queen Mother. After your tour, enjoy sunset drinks as the sky blazes red, orange and yellow, before returning to GoldenEye.

Tonight, enjoy sunset cocktails at Shabeen before wining and dining at The Gazebo, a treehouse-style restaurant serving up delicious dishes with international flavours.
