A Perfect Week In Grenada, The Isle Of Spice
In an ocean dappled with beautiful islands fringed with stunning beaches, the bewitching sugar and spice island of Grenada is a hidden gem just waiting to be discovered. Uncover the secrets of this paradise island from its stunning rainforest interior and beautiful white sand beaches to the underwater world in its surrounding indigo waters.
Getting There: Flights to Grenada with British Airways or Virgin Atlantic depart twice weekly from Gatwick (both via Saint Lucia). Total Journey time is approximately 10hrs 45 minutes.
Day 1: Lazy Beach Day
Spend a lazy day on Grand Anse, the most beautiful beach in the Caribbean, boasting wide swathes of white sand and sheltered waters, perfect for gentle swimming or paddle boarding. In the afternoon, visit Antoine Rum Distillery to learn about the heritage and production of the island’s favourite tipple, and taste the very best of this flavourful spirit.
Day 2: A River Adventure
For something a little adventurous, try river tubing down the Balthazar River, a really fun and memorable experience, great for families, and discover breathtaking scenery on the way.
Day 3: Taste of Grenada
Indulge in beach bliss at peaceful Morne Rouge beach, just along the coast from Grand Anse, and equally as stunning. In the evening, experience the true taste of Grenadian cuisine at Street Food Wednesdays at Dodgy Dock – enjoy the freshest fried snapper with breadfruit and sample the national dish, Oil Down.
Day 4: Underwater Adventure
Explore the world’s first ever underwater sculpture park, where a series of haunting cement and steel sculptures lie at the bottom of the shallow waters just off Moliniere Bay – a sight to behold. This diving experience is paramount on a trip to Grenada – you won’t want to forget your underwater camera for this one.
Day 5: Off the Beaten Track
Hike through beautiful rainforest scenery past tropical flowers, birdlife and even Mona monkeys to reach the Seven Sisters Falls. On arrival, the natural water pools are the perfect excuse for a refreshing swim. Gouyave Fish Friday in the evening is a must; it’s a weekly fish festival booming with flavour and fun, with music, dancing and delicious fish for you to sample.
Day 6: A Little Spice
To get a taste of how the locals live in St George’s, experience a typical Grenadian ‘Market Morning’. Barter with stall holders for spices, handicrafts and local art and enjoy the vibrant Caribbean energy. In the afternoon, relax on Pink Gin Beach, our favourite spot in Grenada to watch the sun go down.
Day 7: Beach + BBQ = Bliss
The amazing beachfront Aquarium Restaurant on Magazine Beach is a stone’s throw from the water’s edge and a fabulous foodie experience. We recommend spending a lazy Sunday indulging in a delicious BBQ of fresh lobster under the shade of tall palms and enjoying fabulous music from the live reggae band.
