The Ultimate Caribbean Family Adventure: Dominica & Saint Lucia
Jungle Adventure in Dominica & Beach Luxury in Saint Lucia
With soft sandy beaches to play on, warm turquoise seas to jump in and magical mountains to explore, it’s hard to imagine a more feel-good family destination than Saint Lucia. But for the ultimate family holiday, add some variety to your luxury beach escape and combine this with a stay on the tropical island of Dominica, where you can enjoy exciting land-based activities such as waterfall hikes and nature walks.
Week 1: Dominica
For your first week we would suggest heading straight to Dominica, a natural adventure playground where families can take on exciting land-based activities enjoying the stunning island surroundings. Whether you watch turtles hatching on the island’s shores, go whale watching, try out cookery classes, hike through the extraordinary Valley of Desolation, enjoy tubing along the Layou River or indulge in a natural spa experience in the island’s hot springs, the adventure on offer here is endless and won’t disappoint. Only a short flight from Saint Lucia, you will be exploring together in no time at all.
Where To Stay
Fort Young close to the capital Roseau is a charming and informal hotel that is perfect for families looking for plenty to keep everyone entertained, whilst being well located for exploring the island. Whilst all the rooms and suites at Fort Young are lovely and include a private balcony or terrace, we recommend upgrading to an Oceanfront Room for the extra space, particularly for families.
Week 2: Saint Lucia
After your adventures on Dominica we know it will be time for a bit of beach, after all you are in the Caribbean! With only a 45 minute flight time between Dominica and Saint Lucia, we would highly recommend this as the perfect Caribbean combination. Saint Lucia has it all, beautiful beaches, fantastic snorkelling, great restaurants, night life and a lovely warm welcome. Families can choose to relax on the beach or carry on exploring.
Where To Stay
A stay at Sugar Beach, A Viceroy Resort, takes you to one of the most breathtaking settings in the Caribbean, tucked away above a bay between the spectacular Pitons, with two sugar-soft sand beaches for you to indulge in. Families can while away the days enjoying the crystal clear water, with amazing diving and snorkelling opportunities in the Marine National Park. Elegant and spacious accommodation adds to the luxury of your stay, and we would recommend the spectacular One to Four Bedroom Sugar Beach Residences as the ideal home away from home for families, as they come with full kitchens, large living rooms, private pools and butler service. Your children will have a whale of a time at The Sugar Club enjoying a variety of activities on the beach and out on the water, as well as a pool table and board games to keep them entertained. There is also a complimentary junior sailing programme available where children aged 10 yrs and over can learn the basics of sailing in a fun environment.
